EXPLORING SHORT STORIES Books 1 and 2 were specially written to cater for the needs of Lower Secondary school students in Singapore. The books' Key features are their excellent selections of stories, arranged by theme to help students link story with story, and their wide range of stimulating activities which encourage students of all abilities to explore the ideas and situations of different stories. A new feature of this Second Edition of the books is the inclusion of prize-winning stories by Singapore students at the same educational levels.
The stories also provide opportunities for literary study through the analysis of character and plot and through the exploration of features such as tension, climax, cause and effect, motive and relationships. COLIN DAVIS has been a teacher and teacher-trainer in English Language and Literature for more than thirty years. He is thoroughly conversant with the Singapore educational scene and system, having worked here for twelve years. He has published several textbooks and teachers' resource books in English Language and Literature, especially focusing on the secondary levels He is also the author of the EXPLORING POETRY and EXPLORING DRAMA series.
